Ninja Scroll is a nice tight anime which can’t be said for all animes that sometimes sprawl for season after season. It is worth seeking out since it is relatively short, but it also has some great moments, a creepy cast, and (though cliché) story that holds it together. Join Jubei on his journey of protection!

Ninja Scroll never got a sequel and JISEI is not a viable successor of the anime classic. JISEI is however a homage to Jubei, feudal Japan, good ninja references, and the Japanese horror folklore that still lives in the imagining of those who know about it.

Does the Ninja Scroll series take place before or after the movie?
Sign in to vote. I had seen Ninja Scroll, the Movie first before I watched the series version. The gap was about a year and a half apart, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie despite its mature content. The series takes place after the movie’s storyline, obviously.
