Can you revive an old lava lamp?
Add ½ cup (150 g) of Epsom salt in a small glass of warm water. Then, use a straw or a pipette to slowly add the solution to the lava lamp. Add ~1 teaspoon at a time, wait 3-5 minutes, and add another one, and so on. Do this until the wax starts flowing normally through the lamp.
Do lava lamps ever stop working?
Lava Lamp Stopped Flowing If the wax is shaped like a dome, probably, your lamp is simply overheated. Turning off the lamp for a few hours may solve the problem. But take note that no lava lamp must run for more than 10 hours non-stop. If the lava is melted but lies flat, you should check the bulb underneath.

Can lava lamps be shipped?
Make sure the lava (wax) is completely solid and the globe (glass vessel with fluid/wax) is cold before moving and packing it. Moving/packing while warm will cause the lava to break up and diffuse in the fluid. This causes the lamp to cloud and can ruin the globe permanently.
Why do lava lamps stop working?
This usually occurs when the lamp is overheated and needs a break from being on (don’t ever leave your lava lamp on for over 10 hours). The halogen bulb should be checked if the lava is melting but lies flat. The bulb might be dead and in need of a replacement.
