Does taking the SAT essay affect your score?
The essay is optional and scored separately from the multiple choice portions of the test (your essay score doesn’t affect your Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score). Another difference in the scoring methodology is the elimination of point deductions for wrong answers.
Should I take the SAT with essay or without?

Many people take SAT test more than that once. You want to get a good score, over 1400 out of 1600 would be good. If you got a good score the first time, don’t bother retaking it. But, if you had really prepared well and taken SAT, beyond three attempts, you cannot significantly improve your scores.
